Sad sight

“I was driving through the down- town residential

sector along one of the old streets with some nice looking old homes. Then I was shocked to find a house with a hog wire fence around the front yard. Sad to see that some people cannot look around them and respect what oth- ers have worked for so many years.

Speed traps

Email newsletter signup

“Why in the heck do we question how our economy is go-

ing in Moultrie when you have speed traps in Doerun, Norman Park, and Berlin. We have a swap meet and we set up road blocks! Get real folks, Smokey and the Bandit doesn’t work anymore! If I didn’t live here, why would I venture off the inter- state? Geez!

National anthem

“What happened to singing the Nation- al Anthem at the

start of sporting events? It was not performed at the Lady Packers softball game on the 15th. The officials should be ashamed.

Safety issue

“As a paramedic in Colquitt County. We spend precious time

looking for residences at night because there is no drive way sign showing your house number. It is very hard for us to see numbers on the front porch. A lot of homes don’t even have that. Please go by Southside Volunteer Fire Department on any Tuesday night at 6:30 to 8:00 and for a small fee of $15 get you a driveway sign. That $15 could save your life.

Utility bills

“I called the city and asked about getting my bill averaged so

maybe I can pay it on time. They said that is only for customers in good stand- ing. Well I could be if my bill was not more than my check. I got another bill for over $400. It will be late, so add another 6 percent.

My observation

“I’m among the frus- trated. I’m standing in line behind a

woman who’s paying for her groceries with her gov- ernment card. She doesn’t have money to buy food but she had money to cover herself with tattoos. Obvi- ously there’s a mentality issue here.

Truck #4

“Truck #4 with the city is getting a lot of attention. Tell

me why city employees have to go eat breakfast at a local restaurant every morning after picking up their vehicle. I thought you get breakfast before work. Why, do we have to pay them to eat breakfast? Times are hard, find ways to save money.

On watch

“Public workers should be on notice now that taxpayers

are watching your use of vehicles and other proper- ties.
