Dr. W. James Huffman III has joined the Colquitt Regional Medical Staff and will begin his internal medicine practice Sept. 7.

Huffman’s practice will be located at 9 Hospital Park in the same office with Dr. Seth Berl and Dr. Todd Trebony.

Huffman, whose hometown is Savannah, received his undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia, his medical degree from Mercer University and completed his residency in internal medicine at Memorial Medical Center in Savannah.

Huffman says he chose Moultrie to open his practice because he likes the area and wants to practice medicine where he is needed.

“I went on a mission trip to Peru where medical services were so badly needed,” he said, “and I realized that I really want to go to an under-served area where my services are not just wanted but needed. We love this area. It’s a great place to raise a family.”

Huffman and his wife, Jessica, have two sons, 5-year-old Taylor and 1-year-old Madison.

In his spare time, Huffman says he enjoys playing the guitar and piano and singing. He says he also enjoys various sports and fishing.
