Sarah Dekle Truluck, 83, of O’Brien, Fla., died, after a long illness, on Tuesday, July 13, 2010.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 17, at Evergreen Baptist Church in Dixie, Ga., with the Rev. Sherman Hall officiating. Burial will Follow in Evergreen Church Cemetery.
She was born on April 4, 1927, in Thomas County, Ga., to John L. Dekle and Alice B. Dekle. She was a lifelong homemaker and a mother extraordinaire, said her family.
“Her sons would do anything for their beloved mother, and she for them,” they said. She loved to play card games and Scrabble and do crossword puzzles, and she also collected sets of salt and pepper shakers, they remembered of her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cleo Truluck; and two sons, Wayne Gay and Earnest Gay.
She is survived by six sons and four daughters-in-law, John Gay of O’Brien, Fla., James Donald Gay of Lake City, Fla., Mel and Pat Talbot of Lakeland, Fla., Charles and Caroline Talbot of Ray City, Ga., Bobby and Elaine Talbot of Charleston, Tenn., and Harold and Sheila Dean of O’Brien, Fla.; grandchildren, Doc Gay, Tony Gay, Sonny Gay, Mike Dills, Chris Dills, Jerry Wayne Gay, Brian Gay, Shane Gay, Doug Gay, John Gay, Josh Gay, Jason Gay, Jeremy Woods, Jennifer Benitez, Michael Dean, Kevin Dean, Kimberly Deann Dean and Whit Fissell; numerous great-grandchildren; a brother, Simeon Dekle Sr. of Tallahassee, Fla.; and a sister, Ann Rogers of Carrollton, Ga.
The family will receive friends, at the funeral home, on Friday, July 16, from 6 to 8 p.m.
