Dr. Ndubuisi Ndukwe, who came to South Georgia from Nigeria 12 years ago as a Georgia Rotary student, began his medical practice last week at Colquitt Regional Medical Center’s Primary Care Clinic.
Ndukwe, who is also known as Dr. ND, was selected in 1998 as a Georgia Rotary student and was sponsored by the Rotary clubs in Blakely, Cuthbert and Dawson. As a Rotary student he enrolled at Andrews College in Cuthbert.
Now, 12 years later, Ndukwe (pronounced “N-dew-quay”) begins his medical practice in Moultrie. He received his undergraduate degree from Shorter College in Rome, Ga., and his medical degree from Saba University School of Medicine in Netherlands, Antilles. He has recently completed his residency in family medicine at the Southwest Georgia Family Medicine Program in Albany.
Ndukwe’s wife, Uzoma, will begin her family medicine residency in the Southwest Georgia Family Medicine Residency Program in June.
Dr. ND is fluent in English and Ibo. He enjoys playing the guitar, watching movies and spending time with his wife and daughter.
Ndukwe says the Rotary Club offered him his first exposure to South Georgia, which has now become his permanent home. Each year, Rotary Clubs in Georgia, including the Moultrie Rotary Club, offer scholarships to approximately 80 international students for a year of study in Georgia colleges and universities. The Georgia clubs select students who have been recommended by a Rotary Club in their home country and have demonstrated strong academic achievement.
Ndukwe is now accepting new patients at the Primary Care Clinic in Hospital Park and appointments can be made by calling 985-3320.
