MOULTRIE — Oliver Amos Davis, 92, of Moultrie, died Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.
Services will be 2 p.m., today, Dec. 1, at Culley’s Meadow Wood Chapel, 700 Timberlane Rd., in Tallahassee, Fla.
He was born Feb. 15, 1917, in Heard County, Ga., to the Rev. Albert Camac Davis and Lee Berta Thompson Davis. He was a resident of Park Regency Assisted Living Home at the time of his death. Before he retiring, he worked as an auto mechanic for dealerships in Moultrie and Valdosta, Ga. and Gainesville and Tallahassee, Fla. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Moultrie. He also served in the United States Army during W.W.II in Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe.
He was predeceased by his wife, Marie Herndon Davis; his twin sister, Olive Tillman; sisters Rosalie Johnston, Thelma Connell, Hazel Lovell, and Clara Woodruff; and brothers James Ralph Davis and E.J. Davis.
Survivors include two brothers, Edgar Frank Davis of Hartsfield and Mathis Davis of Moultrie; many nieces and nephews; adopted grandsons, Dr. Jay Pancholy and Dr. Pavan Pancholy, both of Tampa, Fla.; and a special friend, Sandy Mays of Tallahassee, Fla.
