MOULTRIE — A Moultrie man reported he was robbed as he rode a motorized cart Tuesday morning.
A Moultrie police officer was called to Wal-Mart on South Veterans Parkway at 6:43 a.m. Tuesday about a robbery. The officer spoke with Robert Gibson, who stated he was riding his electric cart along Magnolia Lane on his way to Wal-Mart.
An older model car pulled into Knuck McCrary Park then pulled in front of him, Gibson said. Two black males got out of the car and came running up to Gibson, stating they would shoot him.
One of the men got behind Gibson and grabbed his arms while the other man got in front of him. The man in front hit Gibson in the left arm with a metal object as the man behind him grabbed Gibson’s wallet, containing $14 cash, his EBT card and a food stamp card. One of the men also stole $3.69 cash that was in the cart’s basket before they got back into the car and fled the scene.
Gibson told the officer that he could not see the car’s tag number because of the darkness. He stated one of the robbers was wearing jeans and a loose fitting jacket, but he could not provide additional details.
