MOULTRIE — A Moultrie woman was arrested after she allegedly was seen going into a rental house without permission then allegedly struck a Moultrie police officer Wednesday afternoon.
Angela Twiggs, 29, of 1014 Sixth Ave. N.W., was charged with criminal trespassing and obstruction.
The officer was called to a house on Second Avenue Northwest at 4:41 p.m. Wednesday about a suspicious person inside the house. When the officer knocked on the door, Twiggs came to the door and spoke with him. He had been at the house about an hour before on a similar incident but did not find anyone there at that time.
The officer asked Twiggs why she was inside the house, and she allegedly stated she had been hired by a neighbor to clean the yard and went inside to change clothes. She initially stated she had a key but admitted to the officer she did not have one and allegedly stated she went inside by twisting the door handle enough.
The officer asked Twiggs to step outside of the house while he attempted to contact the owner, and she allegedly began yelling while he was getting the information. As the officer attempted to calm her down, she allegedly kicked him in the left thigh and tried to punch him several times.
The officer continued to try and calm Twiggs down before he told her to turn around and put her hands behind her back. She allegedly came at the officer and punched him three or four times in the chest and arms and tried to kick him again but was forced to the ground. The officer then placed her under arrest and spoke with witnesses before taking her to Colquitt County Jail.
