Thelma McDonald Hiers Flowers

PAVO — Thelma McDonald Hiers Flowers, 95, of Thomasville, Ga., died Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2009, at the Golden Living Center in Thomasville.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 22, at Whiddon-Shiver Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Johnny Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in Sardis Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with Larry Daniel, Ernest Hagan, Tim Weaver, Jerry Daniel, Jim Daniel and Jo Jo Hiers serving as pallbearers.
Born Nov. 28, 1913, in Brooks County, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Joseph Edward McDonald and Lala Goings McDonald. She was a homemaker and a member of Pineland Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Walter Uel Hiers and Milton Flowers; a daughter, Jean Hagan; a granddaughter, Robin Lynn Hagan; and a great-grandson, Jeffrey McMullian.
Survivors include her daughters, Gail Daniel and husband Paul of Gallatin, Tenn. and Sherri Weaver and husband Tim of Thomasville, Ga.; sons, Jack Hiers and wife Faye of Moultrie, Joey Hiers and wife Helen of Thomasville, Ga. and Billy Hiers of Thomasville, Ga.; 18 grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends today, Aug. 21, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., at Whiddon-Shiver Funeral Home.
