BAXLEY, Ga. — Carroll Dale Miles, 62, of Baxley, Ga., died Wednesday, July 22, 2009, in the St. Joseph Hospital in Savannah, Ga.

Funeral services will be held 3 p.m., Saturday, July 25, in the chapel of Swain Funeral Home with the Revs. Darrell Quinn and Robbie Gill officiating. Burial will follow in Red Oak Baptist Church Cemetery with his sons, Reggie Miles, Jeremy Moon, Trey Thompson, Buck Thompson, Bruce Terrell and Skip Higginbotham serving as pallbearers.

He was born Dec. 19, 1946, in Bacon County, Ga., to the late Willis Frank and Bertha Beckworth Miles. He was a member of Red Oak Baptist Church. He was also a member of Ducks and Turkeys Unlimited and Yoder Field Hunting Club.

He was preceded in death by his infant son, Donny Lee Miles; sister, Karlene Sellers; brother, Earl Miles; and father-in-law, Jim Fuhrman.

Survivors include his wife, Joan Fuhrman Miles of Baxley, Ga.; daughters and sons-in-law, Stephanie and Bruce Terrell of Moultrie and Julie and Skip Higginbotham of Baxley, Ga.; four sons and daughters-in-law, Reggie D. and Beverly Miles of Hazlehust, Ga., Jeremy and Michelle Moon of Baxley, Ga., Trey and Jessica Thompson of Statesboro, Ga. and Buck and Heather Thompson of Valdosta, Ga.; sister and brother-in-law, Treva and Fred Mullins of Atlanta, Ga.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jewel and Marguerite Miles of Hazlehurst, Ga. and Merrell and Norma Faye Miles of Baxley, Ga.; his mother-in-law, Nancy Fuhrman; and nine grandchildren.

Visitation will be today, July 24, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Swain Funeral Home.
