McAlpin Signs deals Lazarus first loss

MOULTRIE — After rains postponed the Tuesday and Thursday schedule of games, the Moultrie-Colquitt County Parks and Recreation boys baseball program resumed play on Friday.
And the McAlpin Signs Farm League team got the biggest win of the night, handing Lazarus its first loss of the season with a 10-0 shutout.
Austin Singletary and Chason Fannin each had three hits and Jake Merritt, Billy Wayne Smith, Noah Moore and Preston Lamb each had two for McAlpin Signs, which raised its record to 5-3.
Lazarus falls to 6-1.
Wendy’s also won via a shutout on Friday, blanking Random Design 11-0.
Caleb Ashley, Cory Newsome, Garrison Peacock and John Burdon each had two hits for Wendy’s.
Southwest Georgia Bank raised its Farm League record to 7-2 with a 13-8 victory over Rocky’s.
Wheeler Hunnicutt, Buck Blalock, Jake Hart, Levi Kirbo, Derrick Sprayberry and Sabrean Green each had three hits and Williams Henry and Kyle Brazeau each had two for Southwest Georgia Bank.
Brandon Robinson had three and Tanner Lamb had two for Rocky’s.
Farm Bureau climbed above the .500 mark with its 11-6 Farm League victory over Zaxby’s on Friday.
Gage Kent went 4-for-4 to lead Farm Bureau, which raised its record to 5-4.
Also for Farm Bureau, Cole Bullard and Scott Knight each had three hits and Geoffrey Zeigler, Gavin Patel, Cameron Singletary, Carlton Paulk, Jamarius Walker and Shannon Stephenson each had two hits.
Ben Weeks and Carston Johnson each had three hits and Joshua Glass, Lane Goodroe and Trenton Hall each had two for Zaxby’s.
Harper-McCall remains unbeaten in Midget League play after edging Mobley Plant 6-5 on Friday.
Trailing 5-0, Mobley Plant scored three in the bottom of fourth.
Harper-McCall answered with a run in the top of the fifth that proved to be the game-winner when Mobley Plant scored two in the bottom of the sixth.
Braden Flinchum was the winning pitcher. Taylor Buckner and Demetrius Walker each had two hits for Mobley Plant.
In Friday night Tiny Mites, Mobley Plant edged Winn-Dixie 14-13; Larry’s Bait and Tackle won over Snap Fitness 15-4; and Stone’s defeated Holman’s 15-3.
