ALBANY, Ga. — Sara Joyce Gay Minix, 75, of Albany, died Tuesday, April 21, 2009, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday, April 24, in the chapel of Hall and Hall Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Sickling officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Memory Gardens.

She was born Aug. 12, 1933, in Moultrie to the late Julian Franklin Gay and Mamie Idoma Day Gay. She retired in 1986 from Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital and was a member of Acree First Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading and spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Emory Holt Minix; and sisters, Jean Hortman and Quida Etheridge.

Survivors include her son, Terrell Stripling (Julie) of Birmingham, Ala.; daughter, Carol Stripling Janes (Gene) of Morristown, Tenn.; stepsons, Holt Minix (Irmgard) of Sylvester, Ga., Rudy Minix (Ann) of Sylvester, Ga., and Kim Minix (Stephanie) of Albany, Ga.; sister, Lucille Norman of Moultrie; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Friday, April 24, from 2 p.m. until the funeral hour at Hall and Hall Funeral Home.

Contributions may be made to the Acree First Baptist Church Transportation Fund, 4405 Sylvester Road, Albany, Ga. 31705.
