Cross country teams 26th, 27th

The Colquitt County boys were 26th and the girls were 27th at the Class AAAAA cross country championships held Saturday in Carrollton.
Peachtree Ridge won the boys race with 85 points. Collins Hill was second with 99 points.
The boys race was won by Taylor Lord of Chapel Hill, who turned in a time of 15:48.
The top finishing Region 1-AAAAA team was Warner Robins, which came in 20th wtih 522 points.
Tift was 21st, Houston County was 24th and Colquitt County was 26th.
The top finishing boy from a Region 1-AAAAA team was region individual champion Hunter Honeycutt, a freshman from Tift County, who ran a 17:13.
Turning in the best finish for Colquitt County was Julio Perez, who was 139th with an 18:49.
He was followed by Carlos Charles, 153rd, 19:15; Craig Dabdoub, 168th, 19:37; Jonathan Cauthen, 180th, 20:16; Jebb Cato, 191st, 21:05; Judd Cato, 192nd, 21:07; and Heath Lamb, 198th, 21:46.
Collins Hill had the first, second, fourth, fifth and seventh runners and post 19 points to defeat second-place North Gwinnett by 66 points to take the girls team championship.
Amanda Winslow of Collins Hill was first individually with a time of 18 minutes flat.
Valdosta was 17th, with 503 points, Warner Robins was 22nd, Tift County was 26th and Colquitt County was 27th.
The first Colquitt County finisher was Lindsey Causey, who was 140th with a time of 23:36.
Karlie Brown was 158th with a 24;23; Lacey Webb was 162nd with a 24:30; Karla Duque was 168th with a 25:12; Carly Moore was 172nd with a 25:21; Carly Banks was 179th with a 25:36; and Morgan Hayes was 180th with a 25:51.
The top Region 1-AAAAA finisher was Caroline Walden of Warner Robins who was 35th with a 20:37.
Of this and that:
n Former Colquitt County star Sherard Reynolds will help lead the Valdosta State football against Carson-Newman in the first round of the NCAA Division II football playoffs.
The Blazers enter the playoffs as the No. 3 seed in Super Region Two while Carson-Newman will be the region’s No. 6 seed.
The two teams will meet at 1 p.m. Saturday at Bazemore-Hyder Stadium in Valdosta.
The winner will face second-seeded North Alabama in Braly Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 22.
The remaining Super Region Two bracket includes No. 4 Tusculum playing No. 5 Albany State on Saturday, with the winner facing No. 1 Delta State on Nov. 22.
n Former Packer B.J. Baker and his Charleston Southern teammates defeated Presbyterian 29-18 last Saturday to raise their record to 5-5.
The Buccaneers will meet Edward Waters at home on Saturday.
n The Georgia Southern football team, for which Carter Jones is the long snapper, dropped its Homecoming game to Samford last Saturday, 27-17.
The Eagles are now 5-5 overall and 3-4 in the Southern Conference. Georgia Southern will travel to meet Furman next Saturday.
