ATHENS, Tenn. — William Turner “Billy” Gay, 71, of Athens, Tenn., formerly of Berlin, died Monday, Sept. 8, 2008, at Athens Regional Hospital in Athens, Tenn.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, at Sardis Cemetery with the Rev. Heyward Hiers officiating.

Born June 16, 1937, in Colquitt County, Mr. Gay was the son of the late Warren Gay and the late Grace Tillman Gay. He was a produce manager with Harvey’s grocery store and was of the Methodist faith.

He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Warren “Bobby” Gay; and a sister, Gertrude Christine Gay.

Survivors include three sisters, Nadine Gay Railey and Dorothy Gay Mashburn, both of Berlin, and Elizabeth Gay Wallace and husband Andy of Athens, Tenn.; a special niece, Ashley Pilcher of Athens, Tenn.; and nine nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 tonight at the funeral home.
