MOULTRIE — Mack Hathcock pitched a no-hitter on Friday giving the Colquitt County 12-and-under all-stars two chances today to win the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association’s state baseball championship.
Hathcock’s gem gave the Packers a 4-1 victory over Vidalia, their third straight state tournament win in Lyons, and sent them to the championship game.
Colquitt will play at 10 this morning against the losers bracket survivor.
If Colquitt should lose at 10 a.m., it will play the if game, beginning at around 11:30 am.
Hathcock allowed just two walks and struck out four. Vidalia’s only run came on a throwing error by Hathcock and a sacrifice fly,
John Gray gave Colquitt County the only runs it would need with a two-run homer. He also added as single.
Gabe Mobley, Jonah Bozeman and Drew Penuel also had base hits for Colquitt Couny.
In their quest to win their second straight state championship, the Colquitt County 12-and-unders defeated Lyons 11-3 on Wednesday and Douglas 6-2 on Thursday.
