MOULTRIE — Rain washed out Friday’s recreation baseball schedule — and those games will not be made up — but champions have been decided in all four leagues.

Tiny Mites finished play on Thursday, with Baell Mercantile defeating MPrints and Mobley Plant winning over Quality Employment, with both games decided by 10-9 scores.

Southwest Georgia Bank won the Tiny Mite league championship.

The final two games of the Midget League season were rained out on Friday, but Harper-McCall had clinched the league championship on Thursday with its 17-2 victory over Southwest Georgia Insurance.

Harper-McCall finished the season with a 12-1-1 record after defeating Southwest Georgia Insurance 17-2 on Thursday.

John Gray led the Harper-McCall offense on Thursday, blasting two home runs. Winning pitcher Jonah Bozeman had three hits and Mack Hathcock chipped in a pair of hits.

Davis Insurance defeated Quality Employment 13-5 in the other Midget League game that left both teams with 7-7 records.

Cole Bryant was the winning pitcher and Ryan Chatman, William Bell and Adam Webb each had two hits. One of Chatman’s hits was a home run.

Clayton Brown hit two home runs for Quality Employment.

Lazarus defeated Custom Cabinets 12-8 on Thursday to clinch the Farm League championship.

McAlpin Signs would have had a chance to also finish with a 10-3 record, but its Friday game against Ameris was canceled.

Even if McAlpin Signs and Lazarus had tied atop the final standings, Lazarus had the tie-breaker, having defeated McAlpin Signs 14-5 and 4-3 during the season.

In the victory over Custom Cabinets on Thursday, Lazarus got three hits each from Chason Fannin, Gabe Parker, Cody Noble and Kevin Hall and two hits each from Houston Massey, Kane Hogan and Cameron Vereen.

In Thursday’s other Farm League game, Random Design edged Southwest Georgia Bank 6-5.

Demetrius Walker and Austin McCord each had two hits for Random Design.

Jordan Rosales, Bailey Kirkland, Drew Davis and Dustin Castleberry each had two hits for Southwest Georgia Bank.

The Farm League tournament will open on Monday with Lazarus meeting McAlpin Signs, Ameis facing Wendy’s, Custom Cabinets squaring off against Rocky’s and Random Design playing Farm Bureau.

Pony League action will continue with games on Monday and Tuesday, but Quality Employment, with its 14-0 record, has already clinched the league championship.

On Thursday, VFW hit five home runs in its 15-0 blanking of Edwards Motors.

Winning pitcher Corey Moore and Dillon Presley each belted two homers and Brett Smith added another as VFW raised its record to 10-4.

Southwest Georgia Bank defeated Clements Pools 16-8 in Thursday’s other Pony League game.
