Mobley Plant still unbeaten

MOULTRIE — Winning pitcher Preston Berry had three hits, including a home run, to lead Mobley Plant to a 17-2 Midget League victory over Market Barbecue on Thursday at the Magnolia Sports Complex.

Austin Mercer had two hits, including a home run for Mobley Plant, now 4-0-2.

McKenzie Blanchett, T.J. Robertson, Michael Wilkes and Johnathan Vickers each had two hits for Mobley Plant.

Adam Merritt had an inside-the-park home run for Market Barbecue, now 0-6.

Ameris scored the winning run in the bottom of sixth inning to defeat Quality Employment 6-5 in Thursday’s other Midget League game.

Daniel Mobley was the winning pitcher and had two hits. Bryan Castro also had two hits for Ameris, which raised its record to 5-1.

Austin Hunnicutt had two hits for Quality Employment, now 3-3.

In Thursday’s Pony League action, Quality Employment scored six runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to defeat VFW 7-5.

Austin Dykes was the winning pitcher and Matt Creech and Britt Jones each had two hits for Quality Employment, which remained undefeated at 6-0.

Bryce Giddens went 3-for-3 and Corey Moore had two hits for VFW.

In the other Pony League game on Thursday, Clements Pools edged Edwards Motors 12-10.

Mitchell Hawes had three hits and winning pitcher Jim Harrison, Zack Saunders, Jonathan Redding and Zackery Payne each had two hits for Clements Pools, now 2-4.

Cameron Matthews, Garrett Pearce, Daren Kent, Clay Carter, Stephen Bullard and Brandon Lafler each had two hits for Edwards Motors.

Both of Thursday’s Farm League games were decided by one run.

Custom Cabinets edged Rocky’s 16-15 in a slugfest.

Joseph Gould, Kevin Snyder and Logan Wheeler each had three hits and Jared Soyke, Kyle Duke, Clayton Brooks, Taylor Buckner and Jay Tucker each had two for Rocky’s.

Kodi Bishop had three hits, including an over-the-fence home run, and Bailey Thomas, Morgan Hart, Tyler Pifer, Landon Price, Brandon Robinson and Chandler Grimes each had two for Rocky’s.

In the other Farm League game, Wendy’s defeated Zaxby’s 9-8.

Savonta Slaughter, Bobby Edwards and Matthew Jordan had two hits for Wendy’s, which raised its record to 2-3-1.

Hayden Bledsoe and Trenton Hall had three hits and Jacob Plymel and Tyler Summerlin each had two for Zaxby’s, now 0-6.

In Tiny Mites, it was MPrints over Stone’s 15-5 and Southwest Georgia Bank defeated Mobley Plant 11-7.
