MOULTRIE — Tennis player Cara McCalley and football/basketball/track performer Diamonte Ridley were the recipients of the John Mobley Leadership Awards presented Monday at the annual Colquitt County Fellowship of Christian Athletes John Mobley Memorial Banquet.

The awards were presented by John Mobley’s son Mark.

Ridley was unable to attend the banquet.

“He is recognized for his strong character,” FCA director Larry Poole said of Ridley.

McCalley plays No. 2 singles on the Region 1-AAAAA leading Colquitt County girls tennis team.

“Whenever she comes to a huddle, she is always asking about what she can do for FCA,” Poole said.

The banquet speaker was former Auburn and Miami Dolphins linebacker Mike Kolen.

“I believe FCA has had more impact on young student/athletes than any other organization in the world,” said Kolen, who added that FCA provides “direction, hope and vision for young people who need it.”

Kolen was introduced by former Cairo High star Bill Stanfill, who went on to win the Outland Award at the University of Georgia and the earn All-Pro honors as a defensive lineman with the Dolphins.

Kolen and Stanfill were members of Miami’s 1972 undefeated Super Bowl championship team.
