Pony’s SGB opens with 21-1 victory

MOULTRIE — The Southwest Georgia Bank Pony League baseball team had its bats ready when the season opened on Monday at the Magnolia Sports Complex.

SGB got three hits each from Meagan May, Cody Carr, Blake Bennett and Tyler Yost and jolted Edwards Motors 21-1 in the season-opner for both teams.

Bennett and May did the the pitching for SGB.

In the other Pony League game on Monday, Quality Employment edged VFW 10-9.

Austin Dykes went four innings on the mound to geth win. Vann Pitts pitched one inning.

Pitts and Dykes each had two hits.

Drew Marchant had two hits for VFW.

Jordan Mock and Jamie Hurst each had three hits to lead Farm Bureau to a 14-8 victory over Zaxby’s in the opening night of Farm League action on Monday.

Lane Goodroe, Rob Wallace, Gage Kent and Tommy James each had two hits for Farm Bureau.

Trenton Hall had three hits and Ben Weeks, Jacob Plymel and Hayden Bledsoe each had two hits.

In Monday’s other Farm League game, Lazarus defeated Southwest Georgia Bank 8-6. Chase Fannin, Houston Massey, Codi Noble and Taylor Willis each had two hits for Lazarus.

Landon Scott, Drew Davis and Bailey Kirkland each had two for Southwest Georgia Bank.

In Monday’s Tiny Mites action, Baell Mercantile defeated Southwest Georgia Bank 11-9 and Stones won over Holman Supply 10-7.

The first night of Midget League action featured a tie game, with Mobley Plant and Southwest Georgia Bank battling to a 5-5 deadlock.

Austin Mercer and Preston Berry each pitched three innings for Mobley. Berry had three hits and Mercer and Dalton Dillon each had two.

Andy Bush and Eric Gould each went three inning on the mound for Southwest Georgia Bank. Bush had three hits.

In the other Midget League game, Ameris defeated Southwest Georgia Bank 11-1. Details of that game were unavailable.
