MOULTRIE — The Colquitt County middle school soccer teams played their final matches of the regular season on Monday at Lee County and came back with a victory and a tie.

In a windy opening game, the Lady Packers and Lady Trojans battled to a 0-0 tie.

“They are a very well-put-together team,” Colquitt County Coach P.J. Horne said of Lee County. “But Natalie Griffin, our goalie, did a heck of a job. It was the best I’ve seen her play.”

The middle school Lady Packers will take a 10-0-3 record into the April 11-12 conference tournament.

And the eighth-grade members of the team still have not lost over the last three seasons.

The Colquitt County and Lee County boys battled to a 0-0 tie in the first half. But in the second half, Guillermo Torres scored one goal and Carlos Bautista scored another with Torres getting the assist to give the Packers a 2-0 victory.

“It was a well-played game and a lot of fun,” Coach Ben Marion said.

Colquitt will take an 11-0-2 record into the tournament.
