MOULTRIE — The Colquitt County midde school soccer teams tied a pair of matches with Tift County on Saturday at Tom White Field at Mack Tharpe Stadium.
And the Colquitt County teams had to score in the second half to get the ties.
“We tied the better team,” Colquitt County middle school soccer coach Ben Marion said. “We played horribly in the first half. I hadn’t seen out guys play that way.”
The middle school Packers trailed 1-0 at the half and needed a goal from Guillermo Torres to tie it.
The Packers got outstanding work in the nets from keeper Alex Littleton.
“He played very well,” Marion said.
The Packers will take a 10-0-2 record into their match at Lee County on Monday.
Both of the ties came by 1-1 scores against Tift County.
The middle school Lady Packers trailed 3-2 at the half and got the tie when Alex Norris took a corner from Camille Sellers and put it past the Tift County keeper.
It was the seventh goal of the season for Norris.
Lauren Kelshaw scored twice in the first half for Colquitt County, giving her 29 for the season. Robin Byington had the assist on one of the Kelshaw goals.
Colquitt had some chances in the closing moments, Coach P.J. Horne said, “But we just couldn’t put one in.”
The Lady Packers also will be 10-0-2 when they go to Lee County on Monday.
