MOULTRIE — The Colquitt County High baseball team committed four errors leading to five unearned runs making it easy for Valdosta to take an 8-1 victory on Tuesday at Bazemore Field.
“We just didn’t make the plays,” said Packers Coach Eric McCranie, whose team falls to 5-4 overall and 1-1 in Region 1-AAAAA.
“But we’ll get it back. We just didn’t come out with the same intensity we did against Houston County.”
The Packers took their Region 1-AAAAA opener on Friday with a 7-3 victory over the Bears.
Houston County fell to 0-2 in the region when it was defeated 5-1 by Warner Robins on Tuesday.

Valdosta scored its final run in the bottom of the sixth off reliever Cole Pitts.
Senior left-hander Andrew McDowell started for the Packers and went 4 2/3 innings, giving up seven runs, only two of which were earned. He gave up four hits and walked six. He struck out two.
Kyle Rowe went the distance for Valdosta, now 9-1 overall and 2-0 in the region. Rowe struck out 11 Packers.
