Middle schoolers open track season at Hahira

MOULTRIE — The Colquitt County middle school track teams competed in their first meet of the season on Thursday with the girls taking third place and the boys finishing fourth.

The middle school Lady Packers scored 53 points and had a pair of first-place finishes.

Shabria Reed was first in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:53. Teammate Meagan May was right behind her in second place with a 2:55. Aislin Sheffield was fourth with a time of 3 minutes flat.

May had Colquitt County’s other first-place finish when she won the long jump with a distance of 13 feet, 11 inches.

Sheffield took a silver medal in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 6:37.

The 400-meter relay team of May, Reed, Amber Westley and Antoinette Slater finished third with a 54.64.

Westley had a fourth-place finish in the 100-meter dash, posting a time of 13.4, and was fifth in the 200-meter deash with a 28.1.

Zhunekwai Crawford was sixth in the 200-meer dash with a 29.2.

The rest of the Colquitt County girls team includes Brionna Hill, Kandi Seay, Sadarian Jordan, Nikki Leddon, Desaray Fowler, Erika Tolbert, Robin Byington, Henrietta Clark, Shemeka Reynols and Sha Davis.

Nigel Murray of the Colquitt County middle school boys track team took first place in the 100-meter hurdles with a 13.2.

Fred Phillips won a silver medal in the long jump with a distance of 17 feet, three inches.

The Packers Ian Ramos had a third-place finish in the 1,600 meters, coming in with a time of 5:37.

Also in the 1,600 meters, Jared May was fourth with a 5:40 and Trey Cooper was sixth with a 5:47.

The Colquitt County 800-meter relay team of Tre Scott, Fred Phillps, Quon Jones and Stacey Blackwell was fourth with a 1:46.1.

The other Colquitt County 800-meter team made up of Murray, Santonio Terry, Quan Nelson and Tae Avery was sixth.

Taking a fifth-place finish in the 800-meter run was Colquitt County’s Carlos Johnson, with a 2:36.

Ramos was sixth with a 2:38.

The Packers 400-meter relay team of Tre Scott, Fred Phillips,Quon Jones and Andre Bramble was fifth with a 48.46.

Ikeem Blakely was fifth in the discus with a toss of 92 feet, 6.5 inches.

Scott was sixth in the 200 meters with a 25.22. Phillips was sixth in the 100-meter dash with a 11.97.

The boys team also includes Shaun Clayton, Alex Cardenas, Matthew Turner, John Patterson, Deonte Johnson and Edarius Davis.

The teams will compete next on Thursday, March 20, when they travel to Lowndes. Colquitt will go to Tifton on March 27.
