MOULTRIE — After having scored just one goal in their previous four matches, the Colquitt County junior varsity girls exploded for a 5-1 victory over Coffee on Wednesday in Douglas.
Lindsey Causey led the Colquitt County attack with three goals. Lacey Webb and Jessie Hester added the other scores.
Webb and Causey now lead the team with four goals each.
“Unlike in some of the past games, when we needed something good to happen, it did,” said Coach Andy Chapura. “We got some breaks and everybody who went in off the bench played extremely well. I was extremely pleased, top to bottom.”
The victory raises the JV girls record to 2-6-1.
The Colquitt County junior varsity boys bounced back from a 2-0 deficit to tie their match with Coffee 2-2 at the half, but surrendered the lead in the second half and the Trojans took a 3-2 victory.
“It was a very aggressive game,” Packers coach Ashley Hill said. “We just came up a little short.”
Jose Perez cut the Coffee lead to 2-1 when he scored on kick of about 35 yards.
Hector Ramirez scored on what Hill called a beautiful cross to tie the match.
The JV Packers are now 3-5.
