MOULTRIE — George William Lowery Jr., 79, of Moultrie died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2007 at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., today, Oct. 9 at Buck Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Jon McCranie officiating. Burial will follow in Buck Creek Cemetery with Chris Ring, Greg Keigans, James Evarts, Drew Hiers, Bee Lowery and Hector Najar serving as pallbearers. Adrianna Najar will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

Born Feb. 19, 1928 in Cherokee County, he was the son of the late George William Lowery Sr. and Ethel Goss Lowery. He was retired from the United States Air Force as a staff sergeant. He was also a member of V.F.W.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Marie Spano; brothers, Billy Lowery, Hugh D. Lowery and Joe Lowery; and a sister, Dorothy Hall.

Survivors include a son, George William Lowery III of Atlanta, Ga.; a brother, Jack Lowery and wife Lorine of Norman Park; a special niece, Sharon Trozzo and husband Joe of Camilla, Ga.; and several grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
