MOULTRIE — Two men were charged after they allegedly got into a fight at a local night club Thursday night.

Clint Merritt, 31, of 855 Tillman Road, and James Ray McMurphy, 29, of 866 R.L. Norman Road in Norman Park, were each charged with disorderly conduct.

An officer was called to Bentley’s on South Main Street at 10:19 p.m. Thursday about a fight. When she arrived at the scene, she found McMurphy was bleeding from his head.

McMurphy told the officer he was hit in the head with a pool stick during the fight. The manager told the officer Merritt was out back, but a third person involved had already fled. Warrants were taken out on him on Friday.

Merritt was bleeding from his face, and several witnesses told the officer the fight broke out when McMurphy walked inside the club. Witnesses stated Merritt does not agree with who McMurphy is dating, which instigated the fight.

The officer took the pool stick used in the fight as evidence, and McMurphy and Merritt were taken to Colquitt Regional Medical Center. Both were placed under arrest there but were released on subpoena. A hospital spokesperson said both were treated for their injuries and released Thursday.
