Joe Ellis “Babe” Keigans Sr.

MOULTRIE — Joe Ellis “Babe” Keigans Sr., 84, of Moultrie died Monday, Aug. 6, 2007, at his residence.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, at Weeks Chapel United Methodist Church with the Revs. Dan Robinson and Tony Crawley officiating. Burial will follow in Weeks Chapel Cemetery with Steve Stanfill, Jerry Hall, Jimmie Crosby, Bob Roberson, Ernest Weeks and Lindsey Willis serving as pallbearers.

Born Jan. 2, 1923, in Colquitt County, he was the son of the late Joe Keigans and Mary Jones Keigans Wright. He was the owner of Keigans BP Service Station and a member of Weeks Chapel United Methodist Church and the Weeks Chapel Men’s Club.

He was also preceded in death by his former wife, Ruby Lynette Keigans; a son, Phillip Franklin Keigans Sr.; a daughter, Mary Annette Keigans; a brother, Eddie Lee Keigans; and sisters, Ethel Fantuzzi and Barbara Ann Overstreet.

Survivors include sons, Joe Ellis Keigans Jr. of Moultrie and Leon Keigans and wife Colleen of Moultrie; daughters, Glenda Keigans O’Neal of Moultrie and Elizabeth Keigans of Plant City, Fla.; brothers, Bill Keigans and wife Georgina of Tarpon Springs, Fla., and D.W. Wright and wife Dorothy of Berlin, Ga.; a sister, Mary Ellen Jones of Norman Park; seven grandchildren, Jae Anderson and husband Jeremy of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Cara Keigans of Lake Mary, Fla., Jamie Belles of Plant City, Fla., Phillip F. Keigans Jr. and wife Amanda of Coral Springs, Fla., Christine Keigans of Palm Bay, Fla., Suzie Daughtry and husband Keith of Moultrie and Joe Gay of Moultrie; and eight great-grandchildren, Jacob Halson Love, Joshua Ellis Love, Jaden Grace Anderson, Lacey Keigans, Andrew Keigans, Joey Keigans, Thomas Daughtry and Nicole Daughtry.

Visitation will be today, Aug. 8, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Leo Hugh Howell

STONEHAM, Mass. — Leo Hugh Howell, 74, of Stoneham, Mass., formerly of Norman Park, died July 29, 2007, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Stoneham, Mass.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, at Barile Funeral Home with the Rev. David Proctor officiating, and burial followed in Lindenwood Cemetery in Stoneham, Mass.

Born Aug. 7, 1932, in Colquitt County, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. T.E. Howell. He was a graduate of Norman Park High School and Norman College. He was an interior designer and employed by Rapids Furniture Company of Boston, Mass. He also a veteran of the United States Navy.

He was also preceded in death by sisters, Norma Howell Grantham, Elizabeth Howell Shirah and Nell Howell Scarborough; and brothers, Frank Howell, Jack Howell and Ernest Howell.

Survivors include a son, Chris Howell and wife Marcia of Mooresville, N.C.; a daughter, Cathy Corrigan-Grandahl and husband Brad of North Glenn, Colo.; grandchildren, Andrea Foust and Chris Foust of Mooresville, N.C., and Carey Corrigan and Casey Corrigan of North Glenn, Colo.; sisters, Nadine Howell Caldwell of Moultrie, Lillian Howell Phillips of Live Oak, Fla., and Grace Howell Union of Orangeburg, N.C.; and a host of nieces and nephews.



Donald Louis Huff

MOULTRIE — Donald Louis Huff, 76, of Doerun, died Monday Aug. 6, 2007, at Kindred Hospital in Atlanta.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Rev. David Benton officiating. Interment will follow in Cobb Suncrest Memorial Gardens with military honors. David Huff, Bill Price, Ray Fender, Chance Hall, Devin Wright, Larry Calloway and Matthew Lawson will serve as pallbearers.

Born June 6, 1931, in Kokomo, Ind., to the late Clarence and Hazel Marie Dunham Huff, he was a veteran of the United States Navy and was a self-employed painter.

Survivors include his wife, Carla Marie Lawson Huff of Doerun; five sons, David Edward Huff and fiancée Ashli Calloway of Moultrie, Heath Allen Huff of Colorado, Anthony Wade Huff, Brian Huff and Donnie Huff, all of Florida; three daughters, Kristina Alma Huff and fiancé Stephan Ray of Doerun and Anita Huff and Sherri Huff, both of Florida; three brothers, David Robert Huff and Richard Huff, both of Colorado, and Ed Huff of Carrollton, Ga.; one sister, Janet Tibbs of Indiana; two grandchildren, Alyssa Jade Huff and JoAnna Mathis; several great-grandchildren, including Courtney Jade Mathis; and special friends, Kellie Cantrell and Jamie Cantrell.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening, Aug. 9, from 6 until 8 at Cobb Funeral Chapel.
