Mike Carter

SUMNER, Ga. — Mike Carter, 42, of Sumner, Ga., died Thursday, July 19, 2007, in Yulee, Fla.

Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, July 21, at Paulk’s Chapel Cemetery with the Rev. Steve Comer officiating.

Born Sept. 29, 1964, in Colquitt County, he was the son of the late Grace Vern Adams Carter and the late Floyd David Carter. He was a truck driver for Universal Forest Products.

Survivors include his wife, Shelia Ann Childers Carter of Sumner, Ga.; a son, Michael Carter of Moultrie; a daughter, Adrian Salazar of Sylvester, Ga.; brothers, Wes Carter of Moultrie and Chuck English of Moultrie; a sister, Tonda Dampier of Moultrie; grandchildren, Deven Salazar and Logan Fox; and mother-in-law, Sherry Childers of Sumner, Ga.

Visitation will be today, July 20, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Willie James “Pro” Robinson

MOULTRIE — Willie James “Pro” Robinson, 65, died Tuesday, July 17, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday, July 21, at Greater Newton Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. C.L. Ponder Jr. pastor assisting and the Rev. Cornelius Ponder III officiating. Burial will follow in the St. James Pallbearers Cemetery No. 2 with Willie Robinson, Tyrone Scott, Everett Smith III, Everett Smith Jr., Joshua Smith, Thaddeus J. Hewitt and Cedric Martin serving as pallbearers. William Baker, Freddie Ball, Wesley Ball, Frank Bryant, R.C. Steven and George Walker will serve as honorary pallbearers.

He was born Jan. 16, 1942, in Moultrie, to the late Willie Louis Huckaby Sr. and the late Mattie Robinson Hewitt. He loved to work outdoors weeding, planting, digging, fertilizing, mowing and pruning. Aside from his work, he found a lifetime attraction playing golf and spending time with family and friends. He was employed with the Whelchel Brothers (Attorneys at Law) for more than 35 years.

He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Leroy Robinson Jr., Daniel J. Huckaby Sr. and Arthur Lee Robinson; and a sister, Blendenia Huckaby.

Survivors include a son, Christopher Robinson of Cleveland, Ohio; a grandson Camren Christopher Robinson Jr. of Cleveland, Ohio; nine brothers, Billy Hewitt and wife Mary, Otis Lee Robinson and Johnny D. Hewitt, all of Moultrie, Tommy “Bull” Hewitt and wife Angelique of Virginia Beach, Va., Robert Lee Hewitt of Gastonia, N.C., Tommy Lee Hewitt of Albany, Ga., William Huckaby Jr. and wife Hodgetta of Tallahassee, Fla., David T. Huckaby of Los Angeles, Calif., and Ross Huckaby Sr. and wife Gloria of Atlanta, Ga.; six sisters, Rosa Caldwell, Udella Spicer, Irma R. Huckaby and Linda G. Huckaby, all of Moultrie, Wilhelmina Huckaby and husband Willie of Los Angeles, Calif., and Mary McLendon of Tallahassee, Fla.; six aunts, Helen Garland of Jacksonville, Fla., Joann Smith, Dorothy Parson and Geraldine Thompson, all of Boston, Ga., Brenda Canady of Denver, Colo., and Ethel Grogans of Atlanta, Ga.; two, uncles, Dennis Smith Jr. of Boston, Ga., and John Smith of Thomasville, Ga.; a special great-aunt, Anna Waldon of Thomasville, Ga.; a special friend, Homer Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, other relatives, and the Vereen and Whelchel families.

The family will receive family and friends at the home of Billy and Mary Hewitt, 302 First Ave. S.W. in Moultrie.

Rosa Brinson

NEW YORK — Rosa Brinson, 69, formerly of Norman Park, died Wednesday, July 18, 2007, at Archbold Medical Center in Thomasville, Ga.

Funeral services will be 11 p.m. Saturday, July 21, at Luke Strong and Son Mortuary Chapel with Elder Glenn King officiating. Burial will follow in the Morning Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Norman Park with nephews serving as pallbearers.

She was born Oct. 25, 1937, in Omega, Ga., to the late Charlie Brinson Sr. and Mary Smith Brinson. She worked as a dietitian and was a member of St. Luke AME Church.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, James H. Powers, and a sister, Katheryn B. Byrd.

Survivors include a sister, Beatrice Jackson of Norman Park; five brothers, Charlie Brinson Jr. and wife Fannie of Norman Park, Robert Brinson and wife Ruth and Clifford Brinson and wife Johnnie, both of Columbus, Ga., Willie C. Brinson and wife Alma of Dayton, Ohio, and Frank Brinson of Tifton, Ga.; six special friends, Ruth Robinson, Minnie Johnson, Doris James, Lucille Lee and Naomi Williams, all of Moultrie, and Benjamin Anderson of New York; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

The family will receive friends and family at the home of Beatrice Jackson, 4708 Hwy. 319 North in Norman Park

Lamar Clayton Weeks

DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. — Lamar Clayton Weeks Sr., 58, of Douglasville, Ga., and formerly of Funston, died Thursday, July 19, 2007.

Arrangements will be announced by Cobb Funeral Chapel.
