The funeral service will be 3 p.m. today, July 15, at Union Baptist Church in Worth County. The Rev. Lonnie Gibson and the Rev. John Green will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Coleman was born July 22, 1922, on the Coleman family farm to the late Terrell C. and Julia Perryman Coleman. As a young man, Mr. Coleman began to farm the land on which he was born until he was called to serve his country. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, both in the Atlantic and Pacific. Following his military service, Mr. Coleman returned to farming on the place where his heart always was, his family farm. He also worked for Taylor Gin and Peanut Co. and as a rural letter carrier for 39 years. Mr. Coleman was a member of the Doerun American Legion Post 243. He also had a love for his church, Union Baptist Church in Worth County, where he was a faithful member, active deacon and superintendent of the Sunday school.

Mr. Coleman met and married his first love, Elizabeth Daniels, and together they reared a family. His family said he and his wife instilled in their children the values they were taught, which were God, family and hard work. Mrs. Coleman died in 1989, and in 1995, Mr. Coleman married his second love, Audrey Hatcher, affectionately known as Miss Audrey.
