Helms second at East Championships

MOULTRIE — Three more Moss Farms divers qualified for Junior Nationals on Saturday, including Ryan Helms, who turned in a second place finish on the 3-meter springboard in the boys 16-18 age group at the Summer East Championships.
The Summer East Championships are being held in Rockville, Md., where the top 12 finishers in each event qualify for the National Junior Diving Champion-ships, which will be held Aug. 7-11 in Mission Viejo, Calif.
Nick McCrory won the 16-18 boys 3-meter competition on Saturday with a 535.85 with Helms right behind with a 527.55.
Helms will dive in the 1-meter event today.
Also qualifying for Junior Nationals on Saturday were Kelsey Goodman and Hannah Moore.
Goodman was sixth in the 16-18 girls 1-meter event with a 354.10.
Moss Farms teammate Hannah Moore was 12th with a 319.50.
Goodman, Moore, Anna Aguero and Ali Lepech will compete on the 3-meter board today.
Ann Perry Blank qualified Thursday and Friday for Junior Nationals on both boards in the 14-15 girls age group. Blank was third on the 1-meter board on Thursday and was 10th on 3-meter.
On Friday, Aguero qualified for Nationals with an eighth-place finish in the 16-18 girls platform event.
Elizabeth Ann Kirkland also has already qualified for Junior Nationals on both boards in the 13-and-under girls age group.
