MOULTRIE — The Colquitt County 12-and-under and 14-and-under all-star baseball teams picked up at their Georgia Recreation and Parks Association state tournaments right where they left off in the district tournaments.

The 12-and-unders, who went to the state tournament in Dublin after sweeping through the District III tournament in Bainbridge, won their state opener 16-0 over tournament host Dublin in three innings on Wednesday.

And the 14-and-unders, who also had little competition in winning the district, needed just four innings to beat their tournament host Ware County in Waycross 13-0.

Tyler Yost was the winning pitcher in the 12-and-unders mercy- rule victory in Dublin.

Yost had plenty of offensive support, including home runs from Daren Kent and Aubrey McCarty.

The 12-and-unders advance to play a second-round winners bracket game at 10 this morning.

The 14-and-unders had little trouble with Ware County with Hayden Kudela and Zac Goodno combining on a four-inning no-hitter.

Kudela struck out six in his two innings of work on the mound.

Goodno fanned four batters in the last two innings.

The 14-and-under all-stars pounded out 16 hits in the game.

Cole Pitts led the way with three hits.

Stephen Moore, Daylon Connell, Matt Creech and Ryan Davis each had two hits.

Goodno, Kudela, Mark Lindsey, Tyler Brown and Matt Lindsey each had one hit.

The 14-and-unders will play at 10 this morning against the winner of the Baldwin County-Glynn County game.

Three other Colquitt County all-star teams open GRPA state play today.

The 10-and-under all-star baseball team plays Wayne County at 4 p.m. today in the state tournament at the Magnolia Sports Complex.

The 10-and-under Heat all-star girls team plays in Lyons today. The 14-and-under Blast all-star girls play in Glynn County.
