Katherine B. Frazer

ATLANTA — Funeral services for Katherine Bailey Frazer, 89, of Atlanta, who died on Tuesday, July 3, 2007, in Atlanta, will be held on Friday, July 6, at 10 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church in Cochran followed by graveside services at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

A native of Cochran, Mrs. Frazer was daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Blevins Bailey. She attended Middle Georgia College and graduated from Valdosta State University. She earned her master’s degree in English at the University of Georgia and taught English at Moultrie High School, Athens High School and at Cochran/Bleckley County High School until her retirement. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority and served on the Bleckley County Memorial Hospital auxiliary, the library board, food bank and many other service organizations. Her family were founding members of Trinity Episcopal Church in Cochran, where she served on the altar guild and in other capacities. Known for her beautiful soprano voice, Mrs. Frazer sang with community and church choirs and often performed as a soloist under the direction of her husband, choral conductor Nat E. Frazer. She also taught private voice lessons.

Survivors include three daughters, Ann Verner of Chamblee, Elizabeth Frazer of Atlanta and Lila Ralston of Athens; son, Dr. Nat B. Frazer of Logan, Utah; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 294, Cochran, Ga. 31014.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, July 5, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Mary E. McCoy

MOULTRIE — Mary E. McCoy, 63, of 317 Camellia Drive S.E., died Thursday, June 28, 2007, at her residence.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 7, at Mother Easter Baptist Church with the Rev. E.H. Hopkins officiating and the Rev. Loraine Fuller and the Rev. Arletha Miller assisting. Burial will follow in the Westview Cemetery. Friends of the family will serve as active pallbearers.

Mrs. McCoy was born April 3, 1944, in Baltimore, Md., to the late James Porter and the late Queen Esther McCoy.

She was a housekeeper and a member of Mother Easter Baptist Church under the leadership of the Rev. E.H. Hopkins, and a member of Beulah Harrington Circle.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Carl McCoy.

Survivors include one daughter, Queen McCoy of Moultrie; one granddaughter, Christina McCoy of Moultrie; three special friends, Irene Perry, Ethel Williams and Mackie Murray, all of Philadelphia, Pa.; and a host of cousins and other relatives.

Visitation will be 6-7 p.m. Friday, July 6, at Luke Strong and Son Mortuary Chapel.

The family will receive family and friends at 317 Camellia Drive S.E., the home of Queen McCoy.

Corrie Bell Alexander Jones

MOULTRIE — Corrie Bell Alexander Jones, 81, of Moultrie, died Tuesday, July 3, 2007, at Brownwood Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, July 6, at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. Alfred Jones will officiate with Bishop Johnny Ward, the Rev. Wayne Alexander and the Rev. Leroy Thompson Jr. assisting. Burial will follow at St. James Pallbearers Cemetery No. 2 with Johnny Ward Jr., Daniel J. Ward, Phillip B. Thomas Jr., Jerry J. Jones Jr., Paul Ward and William A. Thomas serving as active pallbearers. Frank Alexander, the Rev. Wayne Alexander and Ronnie Alexander will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Mrs. Jones was born March 25, 1926, in Pike County, Ga., to the late Horace Alexander and the late Lois Bibbs Alexander. She was married to the late Atticus Jones Jr. She was also a retired nurse’s aide and housekeeper and a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; stepmother, Ezell Martin Alexander; daughter, Kathryn J. Thomas; grandson, Atticus Jones IV; granddaughter, Amanda Jones; sister, Lillie Mae Robinson; two brothers, A.C. Alexander and Emory Alexander; and son-in-law, Jerry Jones Sr.

She is survived by one son, Atticus Jones III and wife Louise; two daughters, Renell J. Ward and husband Johnny, and Janice Ward, all of Moultrie; three brothers, Frank Alexander, the Rev. Wayne Alexander, both of Atlanta, and Ronnie Alexander of Charlotte, N.C.; seven sisters, Mattie Ruth Larry, Adell Washington, both of Moultrie, Doris Scott Martinez of Norman Park, Bobbie Waller of College Park, Ga., Betty Jean Alexander and Shirley Thompson, both of Jonesboro, Ga., and Claudie Thompson of Brunswick, Ga.; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be 7-8 p.m. today, July 5, at Luke Strong and Son Mortuary.

Johnny Frank Lovett Sr.

MOULTRIE — Johnny Frank Lovett Sr., 60, of 504 Oak Circle, died Monday, July 2, 2007, at his residence.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 7, at Live Oak Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. John W. Greene Jr. will officiate with Elder Joe Roberts assisting. Burial will follow in the St. James Pallbearers Cemetery No. 2.

Mr. Lovett was born Dec. 17, 1946, in Colquitt County to the late Bishop Frank O. Lovett and the late Annie Ruth Slaughter Lovett. He attended William Bryant High School, where he graduated in 1966. In the same year, he left Moultrie and headed to Job Corps for two years. In July 1968 he was drafted into the United States Army. He began his infantry training then was sent to Vietnam. On Jan. 12, 1969, in South Vietnam, he was wounded during active duty. He received a Purple Heart.

He was a member of St. Matthew Overcoming Church of God in Christ Faith Temple, where he served on the Deacon Board and as a Sunday school teacher. He was married to Francine Lovett. His family said he was a very loving, caring, dependable, intelligent man of God.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Carlton Putnam.

Mr. Lovett is survived by his wife, Francine Lovett of Moultrie; stepmothers, Beulah Lyles of Ft. Pierce, Fla., and Dorothy Lovett of Cleveland, Ohio; three sons, Johnny Frank Lovett Jr. and wife Lawanda, Doremus Lovett and wife Darenice, all of Moultrie, and Allen Lovett and wife DeNain of Cleveland, Ohio; one stepson, Eugene Ward of Moultrie; two daughters, Artegia Lovett of New Jersey and Denise Putnam of Moultrie; six brothers, Sammie Lovett and wife Doretha, Charles Lovett, Larry Lovett and wife Lucy, all of Atlanta, Willie Harmon of Moultrie, Alvern Lovett and wife Generrea of Ft. Pierce, and Ricky Neal and wife Rhonda of Alabama; eight sisters, Louvenia Brown and husband Willie James of Atlanta, Linda Moore, Evyonne Lovett, Alma Barge and husband Davey, Rachel Grier and husband Walter Lee, Patricia Holmes and husband Kalvin, all of Moultrie, and Laura Lovett of Ft. Pierce; one aunt, Laura Bell Prater of Moultrie; one godsister, Beverly Poole of Moultrie; three special friends, Sonny Huckaby of Tallahassee, Fla., Tim Sanders of Miami, Fla., and Arthur Lee Robinson of Moultrie; 20 grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
