Calvin Eugene Thomas

ALBANY — Calvin Eugene Thomas, 41, of 2801 Spelmon Drive, Albany, died Friday, June 22, 2007, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany.

Arrangements will be announced by Luke Strong and Son Mortuary.



Stephen Jack Jenkins

MOULTRIE — Stephen Jack Jenkins, 56, of Moultrie, died Saturday, June 23, 2007, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 26, at First Presbyterian Church of Moultrie, with the Rev. Hugh Ward officiating. A private interment will be held at Cobb Suncrest Memorial Gardens. Al Whittington, Frank Horkan, Buster Clements, Chad Jones, Gordon Lewis, Danny Jackson, Ricky Gay and Jim McLain will serve as pallbearers. Employees of Helena Chemical Company will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Born Oct. 2, 1950, in Colquitt County, Mr. Jenkins was the son of the late Jack Jenkins and Margaret Burt Jenkins of Moultrie. Mr. Jenkins was a graduate of Moultrie High School Class of 1969, a member of the Moultrie High School Packer Football Team, receiving The Most Valuable Player Award, The Knuck McCrary Fighting Spirit Award, and Fans Favorite Player Award. He was known as “Steamer” to his teammates and friends. Mr. Jenkins was a graduate of South Georgia College and attended Georgia Southern University. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Moultrie and was a warehouse manager for Helena Chemical Company and an avid fisherman.

Survivors include his wife, Melody Stinson Jenkins of Moultrie; a son, George Watt Jenkins of Moultrie; a daughter, Margaret Ruth Jenkins of Perry; mother, Margaret Burt Jenkins of Moultrie; and a sister, Margie Brewer of Decatur.

The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 until 8 at Cobb Funeral Chapel and may be contacted at 109 Buck Creek Road, Moultrie.
