Moss Farms wins three region titles

MOULTRIE — Three Moss Farms divers won championships and 10 members of the team qualified for the Summer East Junior Championships at Regional competitions held Saturday.
Kelsey Goodman won the 3-meter springboard championship with a 396.00 and Ryan Helms took the 1-meter title with a 503.25 at the Region 3 championships being held in Columbia, S.C. Both dive in the 16-18 age group.
In New Canaan, Conn., Anna Aguero won the 16-18 girls 1-meter springboard championship with a 317.75, edging teammate Ali Lepech, who placed second with a 311.75
Moss Farms earned another silver medal when Elizabeth Ann Kirkland finished second on the 3-meter board in Columbia.
The top 8 finishers qualify for the Summer East Junior Championships, which will be held July 12-15 in Rockville, Md.
And 10 of the 12 divers Moss Farms put in the water on Saturday have qualified.
In addition to the three champions and two runners-up, Jillian Braun took the bronze medal on the 3-meter board in the 14-15 girls in Columbia; Ann Perry Blank was fourth on the 3-meter board in the 14-15 girls competition in New Canaan, scoring a 276.75; Hannah Moore was fifth in the 16-18 girls 3-meter in Columbia; Henry Norman was fifth in the 14-15 boys 1-meter in Columbia; and Owen Blank was sixth in the 16-18 boys 1-meter in New Canaan, turning in a 370.15.
Erin Goodman and Jacob Russell will try to qualify for the Summer East Championships in the final day of regional competition today.
“It looks pretty good so far,” said Moss Farms coach Ed Goodman, who was with the contingent diving in Columbia, S.C.
“We’re looking forward to another good day (on Sunday).”
