Virginia Asbelle Paulk Smithwick
MOULTRIE — Virginia Asbelle Paulk Smithwick, 87, died Saturday, June 2, 2007, at Brownwood Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Keith Plymel, the Rev. Eddie Dee and the Rev. Roy Hicks officiating. Burial will follow in Cobb Suncrest Memorial Gardens.
Serving as casketbearers will be Gene Williams, George Davis, Randall Willis, Tony Vining, James Motley and Zeph Touchton.
Born Aug. 30, 1919, in Dodge County, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Maggie Lunsford Asbelle. Mrs. Smithwick was a retired nurses assistant at Sunrise Nursing Home and was a member of Emerald Hill Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Blanche Louise Gray; a brother, Clayton Asbelle; a sister, Dora Martin; and a great-grandson, Jarred Carroll.
Survivors include one daughter, Shirley Paulk Causey and husband Rayford of Moultrie; a son-in-law, Cecil Gray and wife Martha of Moultrie; a sister, Rosa Lee of Florida; six grandchildren, Cindy Shinnick of Las Vegas, Nev., Vicki Grace and husband David of Moultrie, Dwayne Causey and wife Sima of Kirgizstan, Kelli Benton and husband Gene of Coolidge, Mason Causey and wife Natasha of Ft. Polk, La., Sheila Causey of Moultrie and Bo Tucker and wife Missy of Moultrie; 17 great-grandchildren, Daniel Carroll and wife Shannon of Ft. Bragg, N.C., Jennifer Reed and husband Ed of Las Vegas, Jay Sellers and wife Randi of Ft. Drum, N.Y., Brittany Causey and Whitney Causey, both of Moultrie, Blanche Carroll of Ft. Jackson, S.C., Kristen Benton and Courtney Benton, both of Ochlocknee, Ga., Kyle Benton of Coolidge, Charlene Grace of Moultrie, Daniel Grace of Valdosta, Megan Shinnick of Las Vegas, Camille Causey and Rebekah Causey, both of Indiana, Mason Causey of Kirgizstan, Madison Causey and Alex Causey, both of Ft. Pope, La., Katie Beth Tucker and Russell Tucker, both of Moultrie; three great-great-grandchildren, Zoey Carroll of Ft. Bragg, N.C., Katelyn Sellers of Ft. Drum, N.Y., and London Reed of Las Vegas; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Cobb Funeral Chapel.
