MOULTRIE — Aubrey McCarty hit two home runs to power Mobley Plant to a 7-2 Midget League victory over Southwest Georgia Insurance on Friday at the Magnolia Sports Complex.

Weston Cox got the win and McCarty also pitched. Anderson Glenn, Garrett Pearce and Austin Mercer also had two hits for Mobley Plant, which raised its record to 7-4. Southwest Georgia Insurance falls to 7-5.

In Friday’s other Midget League game, Market Barbecue strengthened its hold on first place with a 9-4 victory over Zaxby’s.

Andrew Eunice was the winning pitcher and Blake Bennett, McCants Plymel and Jonathan Gay each had two hits for Market Barbecue, now 10-2.

Dallas Allegood had two hits for Zaxby’s, 6-5.

Custom Cabinets remains unbeaten in Farm League play after its 13-2 victory over Ameris on Friday.

Jared Soyke, Ryan Chatman and John Buck Eunice each had two hits for Custom Cabinets, 10-0. Ryan Pipkin had two Ameris, now 5-6.

Wendy’s remains in second place in the Farm League after edging Random Designs 5-4.

Tristan Frazier and Timothy Clay each had two hits for Wendy’s, now 9-1-1. Jim Waldrop had a pair of hits for Random Design, now 3-8.

In Friday’s Tiny Mites, Baell Mercantile defeated Holman Supply 8-7 and Mprints won over Winn Dixie 14-4.

Postseason tournaments in both the Midget and Farm leagues have been scheduled.

The Farm League regular season is scheduled to end on Thursday and the tournament will start on Friday with three games: Farm Bureau vs. Lazarus at 5:45 p.m., Custom Cabinets vs. Southwest Georgia Bank at 6:50 p.m. and McAlpin Signs vs. Ameris at 8 p.m.

On Monday, May 21, Wendy’s will face the Farm Bureau-Lazarus winner at 6 p.m. and Random Design will play Rocky’s at 7:15 p.m.

On Tuesday, May 22, the Wendy’s-Farm Bureau-Lazarus winner will meet the Random-Rocky’s winner at 6 p.m. At 7:15 p.m., the McAlpin-Ameris winner will face the Custom Cabinets-Southwest Georgia Bank winner.

The championship game is scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday, May 24.

The final Midget League regular-season games are scheduled for Friday, May 18.

The tournament will open on Monday, May 21, with Southwest Georgia Insurance facing Southwest Georgia Bank at 6 p.m. and Market Barbecue squaring off with Edwards Motors at 7:30 p.m. On Tuesday, May 22, Zaxby’s will play Mobley Plant at 6 p.m.; the Southwest Georgia Insurance-Southwest Georgia Bank winner will meet Quality Employment at 7:30 p.m.; the Market Barbecue/Edwards winner will play Harper-McCall at 6 p.m.; and Ameris will play Davis Insurance at 7:30 p.m.

The tournament semifinals will be played on Thursday, May 24 with the Zaxby’s-Mobley winner facing the Southwest Georgia Insurance-Southwest Georgia Bank-Quality Employment winner and the Ameris-Davis Insurance winner meeting the Market Barbecue-Edwards-Harper-McCall winner at 7:30 p.m.

The championship game is scheduled for Friday, May 25.

Tournament dates could change if the regular season is not completed as scheduled.

Signups for fall baseball will be held July 16-27 at the Moultrie-Colquitt County Parks and Recreation office.
