The former Packer finished with a 6-under par 210 to tie with North Alabama’s Daniel Creel.
Lightning prevented a playoff to determine the low medalist.
Valdosta State’s three-round total of 4-over par 868 was good for second place, nine strokes back of West Florida, the only school to finish under par at 5-under 859.

n Former Packer Will Southwell went 3-for-5 in Georgia Southern’s 13-9 victory over Georgia State on Wednesday, raising his season’s batting average to .385. Southwell also went 1-for-4 in the Eagles 9-4 win over Georgia State on Tuesday.
n The Daily Reveille, the LSU student newspaper, did a recent feature story on former Packer Jamal Hayes, a freshman sprinter on the track team. The story focused on the Jesse Owens Lifetime Achievement Award that Hayes received as a Colquitt County High senior for speaking to Stringfellow Elementary students about the about the value of education and athletics.
In the story, LSU track coach Dennis Shaver praised both the strong support Hayes receives from his parents and the student-athlete’s communication skills.
“He’s a good communicator as far as talking to the coaches and that sort of thing,” Shaver said. “Bottom line is the better they communicate the better job you can do at coaching.”
n Ten members of the Moss Farms Diving team will compete in the 2007 Spring Junior East Championships, which will run today through Sunday at the Coral Spring Aquatic Complex in Coral Springs, Fla.
Taking part in the meet will be Ann Perry Blank, Anna Aguero, Owen Blank, Kelsey Goodman, Elizabeth Ann Kirkland, Jillian Braun, Hannah Moore, Ali Lepech, Camille Kirkland and Tevin Hightower.
