Davis Insurance gets Midget victory

MOULTRIE — Davis Insurance received strong pitching from Cason Wells and three hits from Alex Kimbrell to defeat Quality Employment 11-5 on Tuesday in a Moultrie-Colquitt County Parks and Recreation Department Midget League baseball game on Tuesday at the Magnolia Complex.
Daren Kent and Gradyn Grobe each had two hits for Davis Insurance, now 4-1.
Cody Carr and Zack Saunders each had two hits for Quality Employment.
Also Midget League action on Tuesday, Harper-McCall won its first game of the season, defeating Ameris 4-1.
Mack Hathcock was the winning pitcher and Jonah Bozeman and Nicholas Mobley each had two hits for Harper-McCall, now 1-4.
Ameris turned in a triple play in the game.
With Harper-McCall runners on first and second, Ameris first baseman Eli Crosby caught a popup for the first out and threw to shortstop Stephen Bullard at second base for the second out.
Bullard threw to second baseman Jared May at first base for the third out.
In Tuesday’s other Midget League game, Market Barbecue defeated Zaxby’s 9-2.
Blake Bennett was the winning pitcher and went 3-for-3 at the plate. McCants Plymel also was 3-for-3 and Jim Harrison added two hits for Market Barbecue, now 3-2.
Daniel Mobley and Todd Lynch each had two hits for Zaxby’s, 2-3.
In Farm League play on Tuesday, Ameris defeated Random Designs 5-4.
Nick Harper, Garrett May and Jaquian Blakely each had two hits for Ameris. Chad Jacobs had two hits for Random Design.
Wendy’s raised its record to 3-1 with a 15-1 win over Lazarus.
Tristan Frazier and Beau Dalton each had three hits and Timothy Clay, Jevan Parten and Andy Meeks each had two for Wendy’s.
In Tiny Mites, Winn Dixie defeated Southwest Georgia Bank 9-3 and Baell Mercantile won over Mattco 11-6.
