Zaxby’s remains unbeaten

MOULTRIE – Zaxby’s is now the lone undefeated team in the Moultrie-Colquitt County Parks and Recreation Department’s baseball Midget League after its 10-8 victory over Harper-McCall on Tuesday.

Jay Tolbert went five innings on the mound and also had a pair of hits as Zaxby’s raised its record to 3-0. Teammates Drew Penuel and Gabe Mobley also had two hits.

Jonah Bozeman and John Gray each had two hits for Harper-McCall, 0-3. One of Gray’s hits was a home run.

Southwest Georgia Insurance raised its record to 2-1 with a 12-6 victory over Ameris on Tuesday.

Tyler Yost was the winning pitcher and joined Dillon Frazier and Caleb Jarosh in getting two hits for Southwest Georgia Insurance.

Jared May and Devin Smith each had two hits for Ameris, now 2-1.

Quality Employment notched its first Midget League victory of the season on Tuesday, defeating Edwards Motors 13-5.

Cody Carr was the winning pitcher and he and Darryl Williamson each had three hits for Quality Employment, now 1-2. Hunter Hancock had two hits for Edwards Motors, now 0-3.

In Tuesday’s Farm League action, Lazarus won its third straight game to open the season, defeating McAlpin Signs 5-3.

Dontae Barfield, Houston Massey, Braden Flinchum, Kendrick Barton, Kevin Hall and Sam Key each had two hits for Lazarus. Cody Mullis had three hits for McAlpin Signs, 0-3.

In Tuesday’s other Farm League game, Custom Cabinets defeated Ameris 13-1.

Adam Merritt and Joseph Gould each had three hits and Shawn Bonner and George Zeanah each had two hits for Custom Cabinets, now 2-0.

Ameris is now 1-2.

In Tiny Mites play on Tuesday, Rocky’s defeated Holman Supply 12-3 and Southwest Georgia Bank won over Mattco 7-6.
