Divers head to regional meets

MOULTRIE — Ten Moss Farms divers are heading to two Junior Olympic region competitions this weekend in hopes of qualifying for next month’s Spring East Championships.
The Championships will be held April 27-29 in Coral Springs, Fla.
Jacob Russell will try to qualify in the boys 16-18 age group for the Coral Springs East Championships by going there for the Region 7 championships this weekend.
Eight divers are heading to the Koury Natatorium in Chapel Hill, N.C., for the Region 3 Championships.
Camille Kirkland will be first in the water for the Diving Tigers when she competes in the 11-and-under 1-meter and 3-meter events today.
Also today, Ali Lepech, Kelsey Goodman, Erin Goodman and Hannah Moore will compete in the 16-18 girls 3-meter event.
Lepech, Moore and the Goodman sisters also will compete in the 1-meter event on Saturday.
Also competing for Moss Farms Diving will be:
• Tevin Hightower, 12-13 boys 1-meter on Saturday and 3-meter on Sunday.
• Elizabeth Ann Kirkland, 12-13 girls 3-meter on Saturday and 1-meter on Sunday.
• Jillian Braun, 14-15 girls 3-meter on Sunday and 1-meter on Saturday.
• Henry Norman, 14-15 boys 1-meter on Sunday.
Ann Perry Blank, Anna Aguero and Owen Blank have already qualified.
Also competing in Chapel Hill will be Ronnie Piemonte and Leah Piemonte, the son and daughter of former Moss Farms coach Ron Piemonte.
