W.R. “Billy” Hatcher
BACONTON — W.R. “Billy” Hatcher, 76, of Pine Hill Road in Baconton, died Friday, March 16, 2007, at his residence.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 18, at Parker-Bramlett Funeral Home with interment at Springhill Church Cemetery. The Rev. Ron Ross and the Rev. Ronald Barrett will officiate.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ronnie Hatcher, James Martin, W.J. Hatcher, James Washington, Robert Vinson and Bryan Wynn. Honorary pallbearers will be Rex Shiver, Jimmy Hatcher, Jimmy Vinson, Ray Muggridge, Melvin Perkins, Donald Simmons, W.E. Bozeman, Glenn Etheredge, Dan Connell, Buddy Snipes, Truitt Wingate and Aaron Cain.
Born Feb. 10, 1931, in Mitchell County to the late Clarence and Lucille Vines Hatcher, Mr. Hatcher was a farmer and a member of Cool Springs Baptist Church. He was a former chairman of the Georgia Freewill Baptist Mission Board and a former deacon of Springhill Freewill Baptist Church. He served as president of Farmers for Fairness, and he served 12 years as a member of the Board of Directors of the Georgia Peanut Commission.
Survivors include his wife, Opal Butler Hatcher of Baconton; a daughter, Kathy Holley of Albany; and a granddaughter, Casey Holley Pickelsimer and husband Shane of Canton, Ga.
Visitation was 5-7 p.m. Saturday, March 17, at Parker-Bramlett Funeral Home.
