MOULTRIE — The Colquitt County JV baseball team opened its Saturday doubleheader against Lee County at Ike Aultman Field with a 10-6 victory.
The Trojans rebounded in the second game, dealing the Packers a 14-1 loss.
In the opener, Anthony Cortes went the first five innings and Clark Coleman finished up, pitching the final two innings.
Cortes struck out three and Coleman two.
“They both pitched very well,” Colquitt County JV coach Greg Tillery said.
The pair received the support of eight Colquitt County hits.
Jebb Cato, Chris Phillips and Justin Crawley each contributed two hits.
One of Crawley’s hits was a triple.
Coleman and Scotty Green each had one hit.
“We played a great game,” Tillery said. “We made all the plays.”
In the second game, the Trojans scored two in the top of the first and the Packers got one in the bottom of the inning.
But it was all Lee County the rest of the way. The Trojans scored five in the top of the second, three in the sixth and four in the seventh.
Jebb Cato started on the mound for the Packers. Statom Willis pitched the final five innings.
Colquitt managed just three hits, by Phillips, Justin Fowler and William Mark Oliver.
The JV Packers are now 4-2 and will meet Valdosta at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday doubleheader at Ike Aultman Field.
In Leesburg on Saturday, the Packers ninth-grade team dropped a double header to Lee County, 15-3 and 5-2. The freshmen will play at noon Saturday at Valdosta.
