William Raymond Shepard Jr.

PENSACOLA, Fla. — William Raymond Shepard Jr., 59, of Pensacola, Fla., died Feb. 4, 2007.

A memorial service was held in Pensacola, Fla.

Survivors include a son, Joel Andrew Shepard; a daughter, Katherine Elizabeth Shepard; and sisters, Mary Ross Shepard Arel and Shirley Shepard Griffin.



Ellis Jones

MOULTRIE — Ellis Jones, 96, of Moultrie died Tuesday, March 13, 2007, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

Luke Strong and Son Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.



Myrtle Lois Bynum Weathers

FUNSTON — Myrtle Lois Bynum Weathers, 87, of Funston died Tuesday, March 13, 2007, at the home of her daughter in Funston.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Thursday, March 15, at Funston Baptist Church with the Rev. Ron Shiver officiating. Burial will follow in Cobb Suncrest Memorial Gardens. Walter Morey, Curtis Bynum Jr., Paul Bynum, Jimmy Dean Richter, Jim Bynum and Ben Wynne will serve as casketbearers.

Born Dec. 13, 1919, in Colquitt County, Mrs. Weathers was the daughter of the late Ed J. Bynum and Katie Truluck Bynum. She was a member of Funston Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David Earl Weathers.

Survivors include a son, Bill Weathers and wife Gwen of Lincoln, Ala.; two daughters, Sherryl Womack of Moultrie and Earlene Knight of Monticello, Fla.; a brother, Joe Bynum and wife Margaret of Moultrie; nine grandchildren, David Knight, Lisa Wilson, Cathy Weathers, Lynn Ledeaux, Gene Womack, Teresa Whiddon, Tracy Vestal, Shane Womack and Carlise Womack Wynne; 15 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.

George Cleveland Free Jr.

DOERUN — George Cleveland Free Jr., 90, of Doerun, died Saturday, March 10, 2007, at his residence.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. today, March 14, at Grace Baptist Church with Mr. Clovis Jackson, the Rev. John Forsman and Mr. John L. Seigler officiating. Burial will follow in Doerun Cemetery. Richard Seigler, Reed Bennett, Mike Blair, Warren Walker, Stevie Strickland and Maurice Barfield will serve as pallbearers. Members of Doerun American Legion Post 243 will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Born Feb. 10, 1917, in Doerun, Mr. Free was the son of the late George Cleveland Free Sr. and Mary Alice Rawlins Free. He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran and was the retired owner of Free Hardware Company in Doerun. He was a 60-year member of Doerun American Legion Post 243 and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4830.

He served on the City of Doerun Housing Authority and was a charter member of Grace Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Powell Free.

Survivors include a son, George C. Free III of Doerun; three daughters, Martha Sue Free Seigler and husband John L. of Loganville, Sally Free Talton of Jacksonville, Fla., and Julia Free Carter and husband George of Doerun; three grandchildren, Richard Seigler and wife Mandy, Andrea Talton and Matthew Talton; and two great-grandchildren, Tyler Seigler and Tommy Seigler.
