Mary Sampson

MOULTRIE — Mary Sampson, 75, of Moultrie died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2007 at Brownwood Nursing Home.

Luke Strong and Son Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.



Damaris Whitehurst Patterson

MOULTRIE — Damaris Whitehurst Patterson, age 78, of Moultrie, died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2007, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

Graveside rites will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, at Cobb Suncrest Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Ray Jenkins officiating.

Born Sept. 5, 1928, in Early County, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Roy L. Whitehurst and Dena Turner Whitehurst. Mrs. Patterson was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Herbert “Pat” Patterson, and a brother, R. Onley Whitehurst

Survivors include a son, Mike Patterson and wife Connie of Moultrie; a daughter, Linda Sue Simpson and husband Danny of Moultrie; a brother, Jan L. Whitehurst of Tryon, N.C.; a sister, Judy Whitehurst Lacy of Altamonte Springs, Fla.; five grandchildren, Jeffery Michael Patterson, Carol Patterson Floyd, Raymond Simpson, Jason Simpson and Brooke Ellis Wingate; four great-grandchildren, Samantha Jo Patterson, Connor Garrett Patterson, Evan Patterson Floyd and Garron Joe Wingate.

The family will receive friends at the home of Mike and Connie Patterson, 3028 Georgia Highway 133 North, Moultrie.

Katherine Morris

EAST POINT — Katherine Morris, of East Point, died Monday, Feb. 26, 2007.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 1, in the East Point First Mallalieu United Methodist Church with the Rev. Minnie Robinson, the Rev. Gary Morris, and the Rev. Bill Adams officiating. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery.

Mrs. Morris was the daughter of the late Hoyt Adams and the late Lula King Adams Johnson. She was a long-time active member of East Point Methodist Church and retired railroad employee groups.

She was predeceased by a step-father, Fred Johnson.

Survivors include her husband, Crawford Carzell “C.C.” Morris; a son the Rev. Gary Morris and wife Gail of Moultrie; a grandson, Gary “Bo” Morris and wife Tara of Seffner, Fla.;; and three brothers, Buford A. Adams and wife Hazel of, Big Canoe the Rev. Bill Adams and wife Barbara of Maryville, Tenn. and Bob Adams and wife Lucille of McDonough.

Donations may be made to East Point First Mallalieu United Methodist Church, 2651 Church Street, East Point, GA 30344 or to the United Methodist Children’s Home, 500 Columbia Dr., Decatur, Ga. 30030.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, at the funeral home.
