Banks scores four in JV sweep

MOULTRIE — Carley Banks scored four times to lead the Colquitt County girls junior varsity soccer team to a 5-0 victory over Coffee on Thursday at Tom White Field at Mack Tharpe Stadium.
The JV boys completed the sweep with a 4-0 victory.
The victory was the first of the season for the JV girls, who are now 1-2.
After losing to Lowndes 3-2 and Tift County 3-1, the JV girls played much better, said head coach Andy Chapura.
“Overall, the entire team played better,” Chapura said. “We played more like a team. I’m proud of them.”
Marla Medina had the Lady Packers other goal on Thursday. Banks now has scored five goals in the team’s three games.
The Colquitt JV boys raised their record to 2-0-1 with their victory.
The Packers got two goals from Jose Carranza and one each from Yasmani Santiesban and Rafael Luna.
Jocorey Dillard played his first game of the season in the nets and got the shutout.
The junior varsity soccer teams will be back in action on Monday at Lowndes. The girls will start at 5:30 p.m. The boys will follow at about 7 p.m.
