Elmer L. Dickerson

MOULTRIE — Elmer L. Dickerson, 87, of Moultrie died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2007, at his residence.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Donnie Sloan officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Kimball Cemetery with Robert Morse, Leon Bius, Stanford Whitman, Mike Henry, Robbie Simon and Corky Holmes serving as pallbearers.

Born Jan. 30, 1919, in Worth County, Ga., he was the son of the late Cynthia Sanders Dickerson and John Dickerson. He was a retired supervisor of Bridgeport Brass and a World War II veteran of the United States Army.

Survivors include his wife, Vera Greer Dickerson of Moultrie; sons, Elmer Felton Dickerson of Iron City and Darrell Fate Dickerson of Universal City, Texas; a sister, Ima Walker Holloway of Dalton, Ga.; eight grandchildren, Shannon Dickerson, Craig Dickerson, Travis Dickerson, April Simon, Crystal North, Elisha Henry, Renee Proffitt and Tierlyn Flores; and 13 great-grandchildren, Devia Dickerson, Mallory Johnson, Kammi Phillips, Taylor Phillips, Ashley Phillips, Courtney North, Austin North, Heather Chason, Jonathan Chason, Breanna Proffitt, Cheyenne Proffitt, Kyle Dickerson and Jacob Flores.

Visitation will be today, Jan. 11, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cobb Funeral Chapel.

Cobb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.



Angela Kent Adams

SYLVESTER, Ga. — Angela Kent Adams, 52, of Sylvester, Ga., died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2007, at her residence.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, at the Sylvester Lighthouse Church of God with the Rev. Jesse Hathaway officiating.

Survivors include a daughter, Kristi Adams of Sylvester, Ga.; two sons, Christopher “Chris” Scott Storey and wife Ginger of Tifton and Kyle Adams and wife Jennifer of Pelham, Ga.; parents, Burris A. and Jeanette Hurst Kent of Doerun; brothers, Alan Kent and wife Terry of Doerun and Geoffrey “Geoff” Kent and wife Shannon of Sylvester; and three grandchildren, Avery and Anslee Adams and Hogan Scott Storey.

The family will receive friends Friday, Jan. 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Banks Funeral Home.

Ruth Lewis McCracken Brown

MOULTRIE — Ruth Lewis McCracken Brown, 84, of Moultrie died Monday, Jan. 8, 2007, in Moultrie.

Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Revs. Paul Voyles and Julian Griner officiating. Burial will follow in Cobb Suncrest Memorial Gardens with her grandsons serving as pallbearers.

Born July 31, 1922, in Paris, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Tiny Wyatt Lewis and William W. Lewis. She was a homemaker and served at Midway, Crestwood, Eastside and First Baptist churches of Moultrie.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl C. McCracken; a grandson, Ethan Carl Webster Snipes; brothers, William S. Lewis and Larry T. Lewis; and a sister, Evelyn Shepard.

Survivors include her husband, C.V. Brown of Moultrie; a son, Clifton McCracken and partner Wolfgang Sander of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; daughters, Carla Soos and husband Bob of St. Augustine, Fla., Kristi Carruthers and husband Charles of Moultrie and Merita Robison and husband Jim of Moultrie; brothers, Ron Lewis of Moultrie and Robert Lewis of Louisiana; eight grandchildren, Lonna Ursrey, Paul Allen, Mel King, Karrie McKee, Kelly Hunter, Ivy Viruet, Joy Snipes and Jeremy Rae; 11 great-grandchildren, Kyle Whitley, Cole Ursrey, Lauren Allen, Collier King, Caden King, Brayden McKee, Karson McKee, Caleb Hunter, Mason Viruet, Ivey Flowers and Jackson Hamon; a five stepchildren, Eleanor Sorrell, Doris Roberts, Sue Suggs, Judy Stringfellow and Vernon Brown.

Visitation will be today, Jan. 11, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Cobb Funeral Chapel.
