Lady Pack has three on All-Region team

MOULTRIE — The Colquitt County girls softball team won a school-record 15 games this season and three of the players who were instrumental in the season have been honored by being included on the All-Region 1-AAAAA team.
Shortstop-outfielder Tiffany Troupe was named to the All-Region first team. Outfielder Ashley Everett was selected to the second team.
And senior Morgan Jones, a versatile catcher/infielder who was a four-year starter, received honorable mention.
Brenda Arnett of Warner Robins was named the region’s Coach of the Year.
Warner Robins junior Kristin Graham was named the Player of the Year. She was 13-4-1 as a pitcher with 166 strikeouts while walking just 32.
Graham, who also played third base, hit .444 with six doubles, two triples and two home runs and drove in 21 runs.
Joining Graham and Troupe on the first team were Houston County pitcher Chelsea Burroughs; infielders Kourtny Thomas of Houston County, Sarah Santana of Lowndes and Amber Conlon of Warner Robins; outfielders Kadie Moretz of Tift County, Courtlyn Fussell of Coffee and Lauren Graham of Warner Robins; catcher Ashley Burkett of Houston County; and designated hitter Sarah Ling of Houston County.
The second team includes pitchers Brianna Hancock of Houston County and Lauren Revels of Lowndes; infielders Morgan Harris of Lowndes, Kelly Dill of Tift County, Kristin gill of Valdosta and Rebecca Johnson of Tift County; outfielders Everett, Sadee Scarborough of Lowndes and Cherie White of Warner Robins; catcher Suzanne Kluball of Lowndes; and designated hitter Brittany McElroy of Coffee.
Receiving honorable mention were Jones, Rachel Segers, Krysten Mangham and Kelly Redlinger of Tift County; Katie Farinelli of Warner Robins; and Courtney Merritt of Valdosta.
Troupe, who is a junior, was 24-for-58, batting .414 and was tied for the team lead with eight runs batted in. She also stole six bases.
“She was a key hitter with runners on base,” Lady Packers coach Carman Phillips said.
Everett missed some time with a shoulder injury, but still managed to go 19-for 57 to bat .333.
“She was awesome defensively and offensively,” Phillips said of Everett, who also is a junior. “She is confident in her abilities.”
Jones has played third base, shortstop and catcher in her four-year career as a starter for the Lady Packers.
She had three doubles and a triple and drove in five runs this season.
“She is a very smart player at all aspects of the game,” Phillips said.
