Reported thefts top $1,600

MOULTRIE — Two Colquitt County residents and a business reported they were recent victims of property theft. Items reported stolen were cash from a stolen check and tools, some that had been borrowed but not returned.

The value of the stolen items was $1,646. Those who reported being the victims of theft were:

• Jerry Cannon reported Tuesday a male acquaintance had not returned a Dewalt sawzall with case, two metal saw horses, a frame and square and hand tools that were borrowed while working on a house at the corner of First Street Southwest and Seventh Avenue Southwest Sept. 9. The value of the missing items was about $233.

• Linda Blount reported Monday someone forged and cashed a stolen check at North Main Package on North Main Street July 27. The amount of the forged check was $603. Blount gave officers the name of a female suspect.

• Jesus Solis reported a thief stole two Bosch hammer drills and a band saw from his Ford F-350 truck while it was parked at Latino’s night club on South Main Street between midnight and 2 a.m. Saturday. The value of the stolen items was $810.



Arrests

• David Ray Strayer, 20, of 1429 Highway 270 E. in Doerun, was charged Monday with driving with a suspended license, driving with an expired tag and no proof of insurance.

• Danny Lamar Butts, 21, of 1429 Sunrise Ave., was charged Monday with possession of marijuana less than one ounce and duty to obey an officer.

• James Michael Vinson, 28, of 2806 Second St. N.W., was charged Saturday with furnishing false information to police and probation violation.

• Tony Antwuan Overstreet, 24, of 1413 First Ave. N.E., was charged Tuesday with simple battery (family violence) and cruelty to children (third degree) (family violence).

• A 16-year-old boy was charged Friday with theft by taking.

• Whitney Raquel Sharpe, 20, of 620 Third Ave. S.W., was charged Monday with furnishing false information to police and two counts of probation violation.

• Maxine Boatwright Lewis, 51, of 1605 Hutchinson Drive, was charged Monday with failure to stop at an accident with damage and following too closely.

• Joshua William Walden, 20, of 180 C.W. Cooper Road, was charged Saturday with battery (family violence).

• Benaias Cedillo, 17, of 177 Still Road in Ellenton, was charged Monday with theft by taking, no proof of insurance, driving without a license, affixing a license place to conceal identity and giving a false name to an officer.

• Ruben Zavala, 22, of 142 Edwards St., was charged Thursday with possession of a controlled substance.

• Dennis Lee Haynes, 32, of 351 Railroad St. in Berlin, was charged Saturday with battery (family violence).

• Carl N. Rhodes, 33, of 1500 Sunrise Ave., was charged Thursday with criminal attempt to possess cocaine.



Other Incidents

• Myrom Smith, of Fourth Avenue Southeast, reported someone broke out the driver’s side window and cracked a passenger window of a friend’s Chevrolet Suburban Monday. Damage was estimated at more than $500. Smith gave officers the names of two male suspects.

• A Moultrie woman reported a Hispanic male was grabbing his genitals and made a sexual advance toward her 12-year-old daughter at Wal-Mart on South Veterans Parkway Sunday.

• Marlene Dickson reported a male acquaintance damaged the walls and carpet of a rental property on Wilder Road between midnight and 12:30 p.m. Monday. Damage was estimated at $500.
