John Wesley Willoughby
MOULTRIE — John Wesley Willoughby, 71, died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2006, at John D. Archbold Medical Center of Thomasville.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, at Luke Strong and Son Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Emory H. Hopkins officiating assisted by the Rev. Arletha Miller. Burial will follow in St. James Pallbearers Cemetery No. 1 with Ulysses Evans Jr., Ulysses Evan III, Ozzie Johnson, Kareem Washington, Christopher Jordan and Herbert Whaley serving as pallbearers.
Born Sept. 9, 1934, in LaGrange, Ga., he was the son of the late Rev. Earlie Willoughby and the late Emma J. Willoughby. He worked as a security guard for Securitas and also served in the United States Army.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Constance Willoughby; and one brother, Jesse E. Willoughby.
He is survived by two sisters, Judith R. Garcia of Moultrie and Gwendolyn Collins of Atlanta, Ga.; a brother, Earlie Willoughby Jr. and wife Kuniko of Rochester, N.Y.; a daughter, Angela Lewis Shakes of Hartford, Conn.; a sister-in-law, Debbie Willoughby of Rochester, N.Y.; a grandson, Leord O. Shakes of Hartford, Conn.; special friends, Eunice Jordan and family of Moultrie and Lannie Walker of Moultrie; a special cousin, Jarvis Morris of Rochester, N.Y.; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be tonight, Aug. 25, from 7 to 8 p.m. at Luke Strong and Son Mortuary Chapel.
Luke Strong and Son Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Johnny Twiggs Jr.
MOULTRIE — Johnny Twiggs Jr., 76, died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2006, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 26, at Willow Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. J. Bernard Braswell officiating assisted by Minister Sabrina Guice. Burial will follow in St. James Pallbearers Cemetery No. 2 with Michael Johnson, David L. Hunt, David Wayne Lewis, Johnny Thomas and Dan Thomas serving as pallbearers.
Born June 25, 1930, in New Elm, Ga., he was the son of the late Johnny Twiggs Sr. and the late Sarah Irving Twiggs. He was a retired construction worker and a veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Campbell Twiggs of Moultrie; a son, Johnny Twiggs III of Douglas, Ga.; two daughters, Gail Twiggs and Georgia Ann Jones, both of Moultrie; two sisters, Dorothy Twiggs Guice of Delran, N.J., and Christine Twiggs Evans of Charlotte, N.C.; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Aug. 25 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Strong Funeral Home.
Remains will also be placed in church one hour before the funeral.
Strong Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
