Moore reaches finals at Nationals

MOULTRIE – Moss Farms diver Hannah Moore has survived the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds and will dive in 3-meter finals today in the Kaiser Permanente National Diving Championships, being held in Indianapolis.

Moore, a rising senior at Colquitt County High, finished seventh in the Thursday’s 3-meter prelims, scoring a 239.15.

In the semifinals, she finished 11th with a 240.00.

The top 12 finishers advance to the finals.

Kelsey Goodman, Moore’s 14-year-old Moss Farms teammate, finished 20th in the prelims of her first Senior Nationals competition and did not advance.

Christina Loukas of Riverwoods, Ill., led the 3-meter semifinals field, scoring a 277.65.

Kelci Bryant, the younger sister of former Moss Farms diver Katie Beth Bryant, was third. Bryant is the defending 3-meter national champion. She was the silver medalist on 1-meter on Wednesday.

Also on Thursday, Ryan Helms of Moss Farms was 15th in the 1-meter prelims and did not make the semifinals. The University of Georgia’s Chris Colwill of Brandon, Fla., won the 1-meter national championship with a 414.35 in the finals. Burkley Showe of Worthington, Ohio, was second. Matt Cooper of Bethesda, Md., won the bronze medal.

Helms was 26th in the men’s 3-meter prelims on Wednesday and did not advance.

Also winning a National Championship this week was Ashley Rubinstein, who took the women’s 1-meter title.
