Doris Cribb Hiers

ADEL — Doris Cribb Hiers, 78, died Wednesday, July 26, 2006, at her residence.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Friday, July 28, at Boone-Lipsey Funeral Chapel with Elder Buck Wood officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.

Born July 9, 1928, in Berrien County, she was the daughter of the late Jessie Leonard Luke and Mary Jane Register Luke. She lived most of her life in Cook County and was a retired hairdresser. She attended Concord Primitive Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles R. Cribb.

Survivors include her husband, Paul Hiers of Adel; daughters, Judy Tripp Annis and husband Gene of Adel and Roma Jo Cooper and husband Sandy of Poulan, Ga.; stepdaughters, Teresa Hiers Jones and husband John of Moultrie and Phyllis England and husband Mike of Charleston, S.C.; stepsons, Steve Hiers of Tampa, Fla., and David Hiers of Adel; a brother, Jessie Marlin Luke of Valdosta; a sister, Inez Exum of Nashville, Ga.; grandchildren, Ricky and Sherrie Tripp of Hahira, Tracy and Timmy Browning of Hahira, Steve and Brenda Newbern of Hahira and Susan and Al Miller of Lee, Fla.; 14 stepgrandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends tonight, July 27, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Boone-Lipsey Funeral Home on Hwy. 41 South.

Larry Fulghum

OMEGA — Robbie Larry Fulghum, 62, of Omega, died Tuesday, July 25, 2006, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Friday, July 28, in the chapel of Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors with the Rev. Zac Kea, Mr. Mike Harrison and Mr. Randy Carter officiating. Burial will follow in the Omega Cemetery with Rusty Giles, Kyle Giles, Jackie Crumley, Jerry Crumley, John Fletcher and Bob Gilliard serving as pallbearers. The honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Johnson, James Harris, Marcus Webb, Ed Johnson and Steve Tucker.

Born Sept. 2, 1943, in Dublin, Ga. to the late Robbie “Shorty” Fulghum and Mary Jane Horton Fulghum, he was a lifetime resident of Omega, where he was the owner of Omega Steel Works. He was the first metal fabricator to design and manufacture golf course sprig planters and seed harvesters used by domestic and international turf grass operations. He was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid NASCAR fan who pulled for Mark Martin. He loved spending time with his dog, Jake.

He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Janie Massey and Hazel Shinholster.

Survivors include a daughter, Deborah Smith and husband Duck of Omega; three sons, Mike Fulghum and wife DeeDee, Jeff Fulghum, and Stephen Fulghum and wife Charee, all of Tifton; a sister, Betty F. Turner of Jacksonville, Fla.; and five grandchildren, Ross Fulghum, Austin Smith, Karli Smith, Lauren Fulghum and Emma Cate Fulghum.

The family will receive friends tonight, July 27, from 7 to 9 at Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors.

William Clarence Mills

MOULTRIE — William Clarence Mills, 83, of 801 MLK Drive in Moultrie died Monday, July 24, 2006, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. on Friday, July 28, at Mother Easter Baptist Church in Moultrie with the Rev. Emory H. Hopkins officiating assisted by the Revs. Arletha Miller and Loraine Fuller. Burial will follow in the Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Hartsfield with Samuel Stewart, William Sellers, Lewis Balkcom, Clarence Merritt, James Wynn and Isaac Scott serving as pallbearers.

He was born in Bradenton, Fla., on Feb. 19, 1923, the son of the late William Clarenece and Ethel (Clark) Mills. He was self-employed as a tailor for many years and he also owned a chain of dry cleaners and a taxi service. He was married to Agnes (Green) Mills for over 58 years.

He is survived by his wife, Agnes Green Mills of Moultrie; a daughter, Earnestine Mills Phillip-Smith of Portsmouth, Va.; a son, William C. Mills of Philadelphia, Pa.; two aunts, Rebecca Wynn of Moultrie and Katie Blackwell of Knoxville, Tenn.; six grandchildren, David Phillips of Brooklyn, N.Y., Michael Mills of Jacksonville, N.C., Robert Mills, Theresa Mills and Bill Mills, all of California, and Michelle Mills of Atlanta, Ga.; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Eugene Hawkins

MOULTRIE — Eugene Jap Hawkins, 65, of 612 Fourth St. N.W. in Moultrie died Saturday, July 22, 2006, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, July 29, at Luke Strong And Son Mortuary Chapel in Moultrie with Hollis Holloway officiating. Burial will follow at St. James Pallbearers Cemetery No. 2 in Moultrie with friends of the family serving as pallbearers.

He was born in Moultrie on Sept. 1, 1940, the son of the late Jake and Annie Mae Hawkins and he worked as a brick mason.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Alfonso Jap Hawkins.

He is survived by two daughters, Sylvia Hawkins and friend Aldean Robinson of Moultrie and EIIeasa Hawkins of Moultrie; two sons, Morris Thomas of Miami, Fla., and Dennis Thomas of Miami, Fla.; two sisters, Dorothy H. Regular and husband Willie C. of Moultrie and Mattie Hawkins of Moultrie; two brothers, Fred Hawkins of Moultrie and Wallace Hawkins and wife Joanne of Moultrie; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four aunts; one uncle; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Shelia Y. Haynes

MOULTRIE — Shelia Y. Haynes, 37, of 364 Mac Massey Road died Wednesday, July 19, 2006, at her residence.

Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, July 29, at Brown Chapel Church, 100 Thompson St. in Camilla, with the Rev. Michael Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakview Cemetery with Don Haynes, Willie Haynes, Lucious Kelly, Willie Reese, Bernard Reynolds and Monterrius Haynes serving as pallbearers.

She was born Dec. 1, 1968, in Mitchell County, the daughter of Earnestine Haynes and Roosevelt Robinson.

She is survived by her mother, Earnestine Haynes and husband Willie of Moultrie; father, Roosevelt Robinson of Camilla; a daughter, Kadesha Haynes of Moultrie; a son, Maurice Smith of Moultrie; seven sisters, Sherlene Haynes, Gloria Shivers, Lisa Haynes, Donyette Haynes, Renata Haynes, and Tabatha Haynes, all of Moultrie and Teresa Haynes of Camilla, Ga.; two brothers, Willie Haynes and Don Haynes of Camilla, Ga.; one brother-in-law, J.C. Shivers; one sister-in-law, Tesia Haynes; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
